My Selah Mae turns 1 tomorrow. I seriously can’t believe how fast that year went. I am really very truly convinced that it went faster than Josiah’s first year (which also went fast).
My parents and brother are visiting us at the ranch for “birthday weekend” (Selah’s B-day is the 9th, my brother’s is the 10th, and mine is the 11th)…and if I am going to make it anything like an actual party I know I had better get planning (at this point all I can say is I am pretty sure I know what recipe I am using for the cake)….
I feel a bit of pressure to “play fair” with my kid’s birthday parties. But I have to admit that is a bit of a tall order. Here is what we did for Josiah’s First Birthday:
…Plus a chocolate fountain with all the dippings! When Josiah turned one, we had been living in Denver for about 2.5 years. We invited pretty much everyone we knew….and lots of them came.(though I don’t have very good photographic proof of that fact)(and even what I do have are very blurry poor quality photos)(I did not know how to use a camera 2.5 years ago)(so I thought I’d just insert them as smaller pictures to minimize the issue.)(Is it working?)No? Well moving on….of course the main event was the cake
cutting eating SMASHING.That big ol’ cupcake was made especially for my birthday boy:…have I ever mentioned that Josiah doesn’t like to get his hands dirty? He is like that to this day.But once he got a fork….…we were good to go!––We also did a bit of a photo shoot with the one-year-old in our living room:–––I think we threw the party the day BEFORE Josiah turned one. On his birthday we went out for Ice Cream at the same little ice cream shop in downtown Denver that we stopped at for his first outing on the way home from the hospital. (It is funny looking back to remember that this was Josiah’s first experience with cake and ice cream…but such treats were among Selah’s first foods. The benefits (detriments) of being the second child I guess?)
I’m linking up:
